Our Visit to A.A. Cole Elementary!
Last week Matt, Chelsie, Lauren and I visited headed down to A.A. Cole to try and make an impact! The class had a total of 17 young minds present, ten were girls and 7 were boys. Ages ranged from 9-11. We split the students into two groups to try and get a more personal and interactive situation with the students. We filled a container with water and oil and demonstrated the effects oil had on feathers and eggs. Students were given the opportunity to try and figure out how to clean up the oil (and they came up with an ample amount of ideas). We then emphasized the importance of limiting our effect on the environment and how the best way to handle oil spills is to prevent them. We finished the visit off with a survey and handing a feather out to each student to keep in remembrance. Here are the students' answers to our survey questions:
